How to Download the Stevens Guardian App
Learn how to download the Stevens Guardian mobile app that turns any mobile phone into a personalized protection network. It connects you directly with the Stevens Campus Police during an emergency and provides important information instantly. Before you start You will need a mobile phone to download the Stevens Guardian app. Steps to download Stevens Guardian Step 1: Search for the ‘Rave Guardian’ app in the Apple App Store for iPhones or Google Play for Android devices. Step 2: Once the app is installed on your mobile phone begin the set-up process by entering your mobile phone number and select Continue. Step 3: You will receive a text message to verify your phone number. Enter the Verification Code in the Guardian app and select Continue. Step 4: To become associated with Stevens you will need to enter your Stevens email address then select Continue. Step 5: You will receive an email to verify your Stevens email. Enter the Verification Code in the Guardian app and select Continue. Step 6: If the information listed is accurate, select Yes to confirm your Stevens account Step 7: Be sure to turn on location settings in the application when prompted to gain access to all the features in Stevens Guardian. Navigating the Stevens Guardian Mobile App
This article will help you learn about the different features within the Stevens Guardian mobile app. Inbox In the Inbox a user’s chat messages will be displayed. Call Directory The Call Directory is where users can quickly access various resources on and off campus. Safety Timers Safety Timers is where users can create Social Guardian and Official Guardian timers. Note: Stevens Campus Police are When setting a timer users can adjust who they want to be notified, timer length, and more: Select ‘Friends & Family’ and/or ‘Official Guardian’ for ‘Guardian Type’ Note: Stevens Campus Police is always listed as the 'Official Guardian' in the app. Official Guardians (Campus Police) can only be selected when on-campus or within Hoboken, where Friends & Family can be selected no matter your location. Add Guardians to their ‘Friends & Family’ who will be notified of their timer Add ‘Timer Session Notes’ Adjust their timer length Select Start Timer to begin your timer session. Tickets will not be made for Campus Police officers until after your timer has expired. This applies to both Social and Official Guardian timers. Content Directory In the Content Directory users have easy access to bookmarked content from Stevens. Chat In the Chat feature users can chat with Campus Police directly. To start a chat, select one of the chat categories listed within the application. Once you begin a chat you may select to share your location for faster responses. Campus Police & Call 9-1-1 Select Campus Police or Call 9-1-1 and then select Place Call to contact Stevens Police or your local police department. Users can select to share their location with the safety official during the call. My Account Users can update their account information, emergency contacts, upload a photo, vehicle information, 9-1-1 Profile Sharing, Local Residence, and more. Stevens Guardian is a mobile app that turns any cell phone into a personalized protection network. It connects you directly with Stevens Campus Police during an emergency and provides important information instantly. FAQs Is my privacy protected? Profile data is stored privately and securely within Rave Mobile Safety’s redundant and geographically diverse databases. Your profile can only be viewed by Campus Police when your safety timer expires, when you send a non-anonymous tip, or when you call Campus Police from the app. Can Stevens Guardian track me? Stevens Guardian cannot be used to locate you without your knowledge. Your profile and location (if you have enabled the location service within the app) are only available to Campus Police when your timer expires, when you send an anonymous tip, or when you place a call to the Campus Police through the app. What should I include in my profile? The more information you provide, the more Campus Police knows when they need to assist you in an emergency. At a minimum, your address (home and school), your physical description and a recent photo are great places to start. If you have a particular health issue (like allergies) or other personal safety concern, you can include that information as well. Stevens Guardian users should only provide as much information as they are comfortable sharing. Does it matter what email address I use? Yes. You need to use your Stevens email address when signing up to gain access to campus-specific safety features. Is the Stevens Campus Police notified every time my timer expires? No. The Campus Police is only notified of your timer expiring if you have started an Official Guardian Timer. The app will remind you to turn off your safety timer a few minutes before it expires. Does Stevens Guardian work off-campus? Yes. All The features of the app will work off-campus except for Official Guardian Timers. The Official Guardian Timers only work on-campus and within Hoboken. If you have an emergency at an off-campus location you should dial 9-1-1. Can my guardian be someone who is not on-campus? Yes. Anyone can be your guardian as long as you’ve added them to your Friends & Family guardian list. Guardians can be a friend, family member, roommate, etc. What is the difference between the "call Stevens Police" and the "call 911" feature? The “Call Stevens Police” feature will route your call to the Stevens Campus Police dispatch center. We encourage students, faculty and staff to use this feature while on campus. The “Call 9-1-1” feature will route your call to the nearest emergency call center exactly as if you placed the call by dialing 9-1-1. Does the 911 feature work off campus? Anyone can call 9-1-1 from within Stevens Guardian. Your call will be directed to the nearest 9-1-1 call center, exactly as if you placed the call by dialing it yourself. Can I still contact Stevens Campus Police if I don't use this app? Absolutely. When in doubt, call 9-1-1 for emergencies. The Stevens Campus Police emergency line is 201- 216-3911 and non-emergency line is 201-216-5105. Who do I contact if I encounter technical issues downloading the app? How to Update Contact Information in Stevens (Rave) Alerts
Stevens (Rave) Alerts is the Stevens emergency alert system. Contacts in the Stevens Alert system will receive text messages and emails in case of an emergency at Stevens. The contacts in Stevens Alerts are not the same as the emergency contacts entered in Stevens Guardian or Workday. Faculty, staff and students may add up to 3 mobile phone numbers and 3 email addresses. Before You Start Log in to the myStevens homepage with your Stevens username and password Step 1: Select the Stevens Alert chiclet on your myStevens homepage. Step 2: To add additional contact information from the account page in Stevens Alerts, select Add. Step 2: Enter the additional mobile phone number or email address and select continue Step 3: Confirm your Carrier and select continue Step 4: You have now successfully added an additional mobile number. Select done to return to your account page. Step 5: To edit an existing email or mobile phone number, select the edit button. Step 6: Enter the updated email or mobile phone number then select save.
