FAQs
Is my privacy protected?
Profile data is stored privately and securely within Rave Mobile Safety’s redundant and geographically diverse databases. Your profile can only be viewed by Campus Police when your safety timer expires, when you send a non-anonymous tip, or when you call Campus Police from the app.
Can Stevens Guardian track me?
Stevens Guardian cannot be used to locate you without your knowledge. Your profile and location (if you have enabled the location service within the app) are only available to Campus Police when your timer expires, when you send an anonymous tip, or when you place a call to the Campus Police through the app.
What should I include in my profile?
The more information you provide, the more Campus Police knows when they need to assist you in an emergency. At a minimum, your address (home and school), your physical description and a recent photo are great places to start. If you have a particular health issue (like allergies) or other personal safety concern, you can include that information as well. Stevens Guardian users should only provide as much information as they are comfortable sharing.
Does it matter what email address I use?
Yes. You need to use your Stevens email address when signing up to gain access to campus-specific safety features.
Is the Stevens Campus Police notified every time my timer expires?
No. The Campus Police is only notified of your timer expiring if you have started an Official Guardian Timer. The app will remind you to turn off your safety timer a few minutes before it expires.
Does Stevens Guardian work off-campus?
Yes. All The features of the app will work off-campus except for Official Guardian Timers. The Official Guardian Timers only work on-campus and within Hoboken. If you have an emergency at an off-campus location you should dial 9-1-1.
Can my guardian be someone who is not on-campus?
Yes. Anyone can be your guardian as long as you’ve added them to your Friends & Family guardian list. Guardians can be a friend, family member, roommate, etc.
What is the difference between the "call Stevens Police" and the "call 911" feature?
The “Call Stevens Police” feature will route your call to the Stevens Campus Police dispatch center. We encourage students, faculty and staff to use this feature while on campus. The “Call 9-1-1” feature will route your call to the nearest emergency call center exactly as if you placed the call by dialing 9-1-1.
Does the 911 feature work off campus?
Anyone can call 9-1-1 from within Stevens Guardian. Your call will be directed to the nearest 9-1-1 call center, exactly as if you placed the call by dialing it yourself.
Can I still contact Stevens Campus Police if I don't use this app?
Absolutely. When in doubt, call 9-1-1 for emergencies. The Stevens Campus Police emergency line is 201- 216-3911 and non-emergency line is 201-216-5105.
