How to Install Software from Self-Service Portal (Faculty/Staff Only)
Faculty and staff now have the ability to install software from the ManageEngine Endpoint Central Self Service portal when using a Stevens owned computer. The Division of Information Technology will update this Self-Service Portal with newer versions of software on a regular basis as they become available. The Self-Service Portal will be available as long as your computer is connected to the internet. You do not need to be connected to the Global Protect VPN to install\uninstall software from this portal. Below are the steps on how to install a software application on a Stevens owned Windows or Mac computer. Step 1: For Windows PCs, navigate to the bottom right hand corner, right click on the icon for ManageEngine Endpoint Central as shown below and choose Self Service Portal. Note: If you do not see the icon for Desktop Central as circled below on your computer, it may be that this software package needs to be installed on your computer. Please email support@stevens.edu for assistance. For MAC PCs, navigate to the top menu bar, right click on the ManageEngine Endpoint Central icon and choose Self-Service Portal from the menu. Step 2: A window will open listing several software applications. Feel free to select Install for any software application that you want to install on your computer. Note: If you try to install an application that is already installed on your computer, the installation will fail in the Self-Service Portal. How to Download Software from the Stevens Software Store
Please note that some applications are several GBs in size and require a stable Internet connection to successfully download. If your Internet connection becomes disrupted during download, you may need to restart the download again. Step 1: Open a web browser to https://software.stevens.edu/ and log in with your Stevens email address and password Step 2: At the top, you will see software categories for Windows, Mac and Linux Step 3: Click on the software category for your computer. You should now see a list of listed software applications Step 4: Choose the folder for the application you want to download and then click Download at the top menu bar Step 5: After the zipped folder has downloaded, go to your Downloads folder. Installing Aspen
Aspen is a suite of software tools for process simulation, design, and optimization in the chemical and energy industries. It is used by engineers and scientists to model and analyze various processes, such as chemical reactions, heat transfer, and fluid flow. Learn how to install Aspen on Windows. Note: Available for Windows only. If you are a Mac or Linux user, please log into https://stevens.apporto.com/ to utilize this software. To access Aspen 8.8 off campus you must connect to the Stevens VPN first. Step 1: Go to https://software.stevens.edu and click on Windows Software on the top menu bar Step 2: Select Aspen 12.2 folder and select Download Step 3: A pop-up window will appear to download the zipped folder. Select Save File and then OK Step 4: Open and extract the files from the download and click on the *.exe file. Installing CES EduPack
Learn how to install CES EduPack on your Windows machine. Note: Available for Windows only. If you are a Mac or Linux user, please log into Stevens AppSpace to utilize this software. To access CES EduPack off campus you must connect to the Stevens VPN first. Step 1: Go to https://software.stevens.edu and click on the Windows Software header title. Scroll down to the CES EDUpack folder, select CES EduPack 2020 and click Download Step 2: When prompted to download, select Save File and click OK Step 3: Once the download has completed, unzip the entire folder by right-clicking to selecting Extract All Step 4: Navigate to your Downloads folder and open the CES EduPack 2020 installation files Step 5: Run the edupack_setup.2020.exe installer and follow the on-screen instructions. Installing Creo
Creo is a 3D CAD software used for product design and development. It offers a range of tools for creating and editing 3D models, assemblies, and drawings, as well as simulation, analysis, and documentation. Creo is used by engineers, designers, and manufacturers in various industries, such as aerospace, automotive, and consumer goods. Note: To access SolidWorks off campus you must connect to the Stevens VPN first. Available for Windows only. If you are a Mac or Linux user, please log into https://stevens.apporto.com/ to utilize this software. Step 1: Go to https://software.stevens.edu and click on the Windows Software header title. Scroll down and select the CREO folder, check the box next to the Creo version instructed by your professor, and click Download Step 2: A .zip file will be downloaded, before you can install Creo you will have to unzip your files. You can use any tool that you prefer to unzip files (winrar, 7zip, etc.). This tutorial shows how to use the tools that are built into Windows 10. Go to your Downloads folder and find the .zip file that you downloaded, the name will be of the form Onedrive_YEAR-MONTH-DAY.zip. Double click the .zip file Step 3: Click Extract all Step 4: Make note of where you're extracting to. By default it will extract to the same folder that the .zip file is in. Click Extract Step 5: There should now be a regular folder (not a .zip) in your Downloads folder Step 6: In your new folder, go into the Creo folder, finally go into the 64 bit folder. Find and double click setup.exe to start the installation Step 7: The installer will open. Click Next Step 8: Check the box next to I accept and click Next Step 9: Click Creo Elements/Pro & Creo Elements/Pro Mechanica Step 10: Make sure you enable Creo Elements/Pro Mechanica. Select Install all sub-features Note: If you don't do this you won't be able to complete some of the labs late in the course. Step 11: Click Next Step 12: Make sure English is selected and click Next Step 13: Click Add Step 14: Enter lm3server.campus.stevens-tech.edu under Hostname and 7788 under Port and click OK Step 15: Click Next Step 16: Leave the default Preferences and click Next Step 17: Make sure Install Creo Thumnail viewer and Install Creo Elements/View Express boxes are checked and click Next Step 18: Click Install. Installing Mathematica
Mathematica is a powerful computational software used in science, engineering, and finance, among other fields. It allows users to perform symbolic and numeric computations, visualize and analyze data, and create interactive applications. If you're involved in data analysis, simulation, or modeling, you might find Mathematica useful. Learn how to create an account, download Mathematica Desktop on Windows and Mac, and access Mathematica Online and Wolfram|Alpha Pro. Note: For additional information and tutorials, visit web.stevens.edu/mathematica/. Create Account Step 1: Go to user.wolfram.com and click Create One to get a Wolfram ID Step 2: Fill out your information and be sure to use your @stevens.edu email address. Agree to the terms and click Create Wolfram ID Step 3: Check your email for an activation link. Be sure to check your spam folder, the email will come from account-notifications@wolfram.com Download Mathematica Desktop Step 1: Request an activation key at https://account.wolfram.com/login/oauth2/sign-in. Step 2: The product name is Mathematica for Students for Sites (Single Machine). Select the most recent version number unless otherwise specified by your professor. Click Submit Step 3: The activation key will show up on your account page and be sent to your email Step 4: Click the Product Summary page link to access your license Step 5: Click Get Downloads and select Download next to the Mathematica Download Manager your platform Step 6: Run the installer on your machine, press Launch and follow the installation wizard. Keep all of the default settings Step 7: Once it is installed, open Mathematica and enter your activation key Access Mathematica Online Step 1: Request an activation key at https://account.wolfram.com/login/oauth2/sign-in Step 2: Select that you are a student and agree to the terms and press Submit. Your access link is sent to your Stevens email, it may take a few minutes and be sure to check your Spam folder Step 3: Follow the link in your email to complete the activation. From your portal click Go to Product and sign in Access Wolfram | Alpha Pro Step 1: Request an activation key at https://account.wolfram.com/login/oauth2/sign-in Step 2: Select that you are a student and agree to the terms and press Submit. MATLAB is a programming language and numerical computing environment used in engineering, science, and finance. It allows users to perform a wide range of mathematical operations, create and run simulations, and visualize and analyze data. MATLAB is often used in academic and industrial research, and in the development of control systems and algorithms. Learn how to create a MathWorks account and install MATLAB on Windows and Mac. Creating a MathWorks Account Step 1: Go to https://www.mathworks.com/login Select Create one! then select Next Step 2: Enter your full Stevens email address, first and last name, and select Continue Step 3: You will receive a confirmation email to your Stevens Email address Click Verify email Step 4: The link will take you to the Mathworks website which will confirm your new account is activated Install MATLAB on Windows Step 1: Go to https://software.stevens.edu select Windows software on the top bar, search for open your desired version of Matlab and click Download Step 2: A pop-up will appear. Click Save File to save the zipped file. Navigate to your Downloads folder, extract the contents and double click matlab_R2021b_win64.exe to begin the installation process Step 3: Log in (your email should be your full username@stevens.edu address) and select Next Step 4: Accept the terms of the license agreement by selecting Yes and select Next Step 5: Select Licenses and select Next Step 6: Leave the installation location as the default unless you need to install to a specific folder, select Next Step 7: Leave the product selection as the default unless you need to install specific products, select Next Step 8: If you would like to have MATLAB shortcut on your desktop, select Desktop, select Next Step 9: Press Begin Install to confirm MATLAB installation Install MATLAB on MacOS Step 1: Go to https://software.stevens.edu, select Mac software on the top bar, search for and click on the folder Matlab2023a Step 2: Double click the file matlab_R2023a_maci64.dmg; a zip folder will be downloaded to your system Step 3: Navigate to your Downloads folder, extract the contents and double click matlab_R2023a_maci64.dmg to begin the installation process Step 4: Once selected Matlab installer may may be prompt for your system credentials. Enter the username and password for your device to unlock your system Step 5: The MathWorks Installer will open. Installing MathType
MathType is a software tool used for creating and editing mathematical equations and symbols in various applications, such as Microsoft Word and Google Docs. It offers a range of symbols and templates for various mathematical notations and equations. If you frequently work with mathematical expressions and equations, you might find MathType useful. Learn how to install Math Type on Windows and Mac machines. Windows Step 1: Go to software.stevens.edu and select Windows Software from the top banner. Scroll down or search MathType, select the MathType folder and click Download Step 2: Navigate to your Downloads folder, click on the MathType folder, and select Extract All Step 3: Make sure all of your Microsoft Office windows are closed, then double-click MathType-win-en-7.4.10.53 to start the installation process. Accept the license terms and click Next Step 4: Click on I Agree Step 5: Set a Destination folder and click on OK and wait for the installation to complete Step 6: Open the MathType application and activate the license using the license key you extracted along with the set-up File. Click on Enter a Product Key Step 7: Enter your name, Stevens Email, and Product key and click on Activate to Activate the license MacOS Step 1: Go to software.stevens.edu and select Mac Software from the top banner. Scroll down or search MathType Step 2: In the MathType folder, select the MathType version specified by your professor and click Download on the top banner Step 3: Navigate to your Downloads folder, open the MathType folder, and double click the MathType .pkg to start the installation process Step 4: The installer will open. Installing Microsoft Visio
Visio is a diagramming software used for creating a wide range of diagrams, such as flowcharts, network diagrams, and floor plans. It offers a range of templates and shapes for various diagram types, and allows users to collaborate and share diagrams with others. If you need to create professional-looking diagrams for presentations or reports, Visio might be a useful tool. Learn how to install Microsoft Visio on your Windows machine. Note: Available for Windows only. If you are a Mac or Linux user, please log into https://stevens.apporto.com/ to utilize this software. Step 1: Navigate to https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools and Sign in with your Stevens Credentials Step 2: From the Azure Education landing page, select Software from the menu on the left side of the page Step 3: Using the search bar, search for Visio. From the results, click on the version of Visio you would like. In this example, we are using Visio Professional 2021 Step 4: Click View Key and take note of the license key. Click Download Step 5: Once the installation file is downloaded, it will be saved as an .iso file. Navigate to your Downloads folder, and find the .iso file. Double click on and open Setup Step 6: On the User Account Control page, select Yes Note: If you use a Stevens-owned computer and are prompted for administrator credentials at this step, please contact Client Support Services. Step 7: Visio will begin to install through the Office installer. Wait for this to finish Step 8: Once this completes, you can search for Visio in the Windows search bar. Select Open Step 9: Once Project opens, it will ask you for a license key. Copy and Paste the license key from step 4. Once entered, Project will activate and can be used normally Note: If you would like quick access to Visio in the future, select Pin to taskbar This will place it at the bottom of your screen in the Windows taskbar.
