How to Find Course Sections in Workday
This article shows a user how to find course sections in Workday. Step 1: Search Find Course Sections – Select Find Course Sections Step 2: Select Start Date within – Select Academic Level Step 3: Select OK Step 4: Search for course sections by: Entering the course name in the search bar or Selecting filters from the left side of the screen, then select Search. Note: Select the dropdown arrow to view more course section information. Step 5: Select course section name from search results. Step 6: From the course section screen, you can view the course Description as well as details about any Reserved Seats and Eligibility restrictions associated with the course section. Note: If you do not meet an eligibility restriction, please consult your Academic Advisor. You may be instructed to fill out a Course Section Pre-requisite Override Request. Withdraw from a Course in Workday
This guide walks a user through withdrawing from a course in Workday. Step 1: Select your profile image on the Workday homepage – Select View Profile Note: If you have an active campus job, select your student profile before continuing to step 2. Step 2: Select Academics Step 3: Select the Current Classes tab. Step 4: Scroll in the My Enrolled courses section to select the Withdraw button. Step 5: Select Confirm Withdraw from Course Step 6: Review the alert message – Select OK Step 7: Review Details and Process for completed actions and next steps – Select Done Step 8: Complete the Questionnaire by selecting a Reason for Course Withdrawal. Note: This step must be completed by both domestic and international students. The options on the questionnaire will be specific to your student type. How to Join and Register from a Waitlist in Workday
This article will walk a student through joining and registering for a course section via a waitlist in Workday. Quick Search: Find Course Sections Step 1: From your Workday homepage, select the Menu icon in the upper left corner, then select Academics under the Apps tab. Step 2: Select Find Course Sections in the Planning & Registration section. Step 3: Select Start Date within and Academic Level. Select OK. Step 4: Enter a course or course section in the search bar – Select Search Step 5: Select a course section from the search results. Step 6: On the View Course Section screen, the Course Status is “Waitlist”. The Seats Available shows the number of seats currently available for the course section. The Waitlist Seats Available shows the number of waitlist seats available and the waitlist capacity. Step 7: Select Start Registration Note: The Start Registration button refers to registering for the waitlist; this action will not register you for the course. You will instead see the following Alert that you can close by selecting the "X" in the upper right corner: Step 8: Verify course section selection – please note the Section Status column lists the course section as Waitlist. Select Register. Step 9: The course is now listed under Waitlisted Registrations. Select View Registered Courses to view all registered and waitlisted courses. Registering for a Waitlisted Course Section When a seat becomes available in the waitlisted course section, it will be offered to each student in the order they registered for the waitlist. The eligible student will be notified through their Workday Inbox and can register for the seat by following these steps. Step 10: Select the course section item in My Tasks. Step 11: Select Submit to register for the course section. Select Remove from Waitlist to be removed from the course section waitlist. Select Deny to skip your position in the waitlist (this action will keep you on the waitlist but offer the open seat to the next student). Step 12: Click View Details to view Details or Process for this completed event. Step 13: The course section now shows as part of the student’s My Enrolled Courses. Troubleshoot Registration Issues in Workday
When registering for an academic period a student is unable to register for a course section, they should check the following: • Holds on their account • Active Registration Appointment • Required Pre-requisites have been satisfied If after checking the above a student is still unable to register, students can run the Troubleshoot Registration tasks. Troubleshoot Registration Report Step 1: Search Troubleshoot Registration – Select Troubleshoot Registration Step 2: Select Academic Period – Select Course Step 3: Select OK Step 4: Review the Course table for registration troubleshooting and restrictions. Note: In this example, the student cannot register because the student is already registered for the course/took the course. This course does not allow for duplicate registrations or students to repeat the course. Step 5: Select Relaunch to start a new troubleshoot registration search Troubleshoot Registration on a Course Section Step 1: From your Workday homepage, select Menu on the top left corner and choose the Academics worklet in Apps tab Step 2: Select Find Course Sections in the Planning & Registration section Step 3: Select Start Date within – Select Academic Level Step 4: Select OK Step 5: Enter a course or course section name in the search bar Step 6: Select a course section name from the search results Step 7: Select Troubleshoot Step 8: Review the Course table for registration troubleshooting and restrictions. Note: In this example, the student cannot register because the student is already registered for the course/took the course. This course does not allow for duplicate registrations or students to repeat the course. Understanding Registration Troubleshooting and Restriction Fields Review the Course table for registration troubleshooting and restrictions definitions. • Enrollment Window – Registration date window should be open; No means registration date window is closed • Maximum Units – Maximum Units student is allowed to enroll • Enrolled Units – Active units student is enrolled • Holds – Should be 0 in order to register, if you have a hold select the number link to view Holds • No Duplicate Registrations – No, means you have taken the course before or are already for the course in a different course section. • Can Repeat – No, means you can only receive credit for taking this course once • Has Published, Visible Sections – Yes, means course has been published and visible to students • Can Register for Co-Requisites – Yes, means student can enroll in co-requisite courses, if applicable. Request Course Section Prerequisite Override in Workday
This article walks a student through requesting a Course Section Prerequisite Override in Workday. Note: Submitting and having this request approved in Workday does not automatically enroll a student into the requested course section - an approved request only provides a student with permission to enroll in an approved course section. To enroll in a course section after a successfully approved request, please refer to the following article: Register from a Course Section in Workday To view your currently enrolled course sections, please refer to the View My Courses article. Quick Search: Request Course Section Prerequisite Override Step 1: From your Workday homepage, select Menu on the top left corner and choose the Academics worklet in Apps tab Step 2: Select Request Course Section Prerequisite Override located in the Planning & Registration section. Note: Select More to expand Planning & Registration section. Step 3a: Select Start Date within – Choose Period and then Semester Select Course – Type in Course Subject and Course Number Select Course Section – Dropdown will present application Course Sections Note: Select the fields for the course you want to take without having completed the prerequisite(s). If a field does not produce drop down options, enter a course or course section ID. If a field still returns “No Items” after submitting your entry, there is either no prerequisite(s) or the course and course section is unavailable in the selected academic period. Step 3b: Select the Active Academic Record where the override will be applied. This only applies to students with multiple academic records on their Workday Student account. Step 4: Select OK Step 5: Select Submit Step 6: Select Complete Questionnaire Step 7: Fill out required fields and provide any details necessary Step 8: Select Submit Step 9: Select View Details Step 10: Select the down arrow to expand Details and Process. Swap or Drop a Course Section in Workday
This article walks a student through swapping or dropping a course section in Workday. Quick Search: View My Courses Swap Swapping allows you to drop and add course sections concurrently without being dropped from the course. Step 1: From your Workday homepage, select Menu on the top left corner and choose the Academics worklet in Apps tab Step 2: Select View My Courses in the Planning & Registration section. Step 3: Select Actions for the course section and select Swap. Step 4: Select New Course or New Section – Select OK Note: Selecting New Course will display all available course sections. This allows you to choose which course section for the same course meets the day/time that works with your schedule. Step 5: Select the course or course section that you want to take instead of your current course – Select Confirm Swap and OK Step 6: Review swap – Select View Registered Courses to confirm course registrations. Drop Dropping allows you to remove a course from the selected academic period. Step 1: From your Workday homepage, select Menu on the top left corner and choose the Academics worklet in Apps tab Step 2: Select View My Courses in the Planning & Registration section. Register from Your Academic Plan in Workday
Learn how to register from your Academic Plan in Workday. Quick Search: View My Academic Plan Step 1: From your Workday homepage, select Menu on the top left corner and choose the Academics worklet in Apps tab Step 2: Select View My Academic Plan in the Academic Advising section. Step 3: Select Register from Plan Step 4: Select a course section. Note: Verify you are eligible to register by looking for the check mark in the Eligible field. If you are not eligible for a course you must delete the course by selecting the trash can icon. Keeping the ineligible course in your plan will prevent registration of all courses in your plan. Step 5: Select Register once a section is selected for every course on the plan for the academic period.
