Personal Web Space
This article applies to current owners of personal web space only.
Maintaining Personal Web Space
You can maintain your personal web space by mapping a network drive to \\personalweb.stevens.edu\username along with your Stevens username and password. To map from off-campus, a VPN connection is required.
Visitors can browse your personal web space at https://personal.stevens.edu/~username.
If a file is named index.html it will be served at the URL of your personal web space. Other files are served at URLs starting with https://personal.stevens.edu/~username/ followed by the name of the file. The same goes for any folders you create: if the folder contains an index.html file, the URL stops at the folder name; otherwise, the URL must include the file name as well. If a URL points to a folder that doesn't contain an index.html file, it may show an error.
Supported technologies available in personal web space:
- HTTPS (SSL/TLS)
- SSI (server-side includes) - no executable code, filenames must end with .shtm or .shtml
- Client-side languages (HTML, CSS, Javascript)
