Installing SolidWorks
SolidWorks is a 3D CAD software widely used in engineering, design, and manufacturing. It allows users to create 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings, and offers a range of tools for simulation, analysis, and documentation. You might need SolidWorks if you're working in the fields of mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, or if you're involved in product design and development.
Learn how to install SolidWorks on Windows and on a MacOS using Boot Camp, and set up SolidWorks to communicate with the license server.
Note: To access SolidWorks off campus you must connect to the Stevens VPN first.
Windows
Step 1: Go to https://software.stevens.edu/ and click on the Windows Software title header. Scroll down and select the SolidWorks folder, select SolidWorks 2023 and click Download

Step 2: A pop-up window will appear to download the zipped folder. Click Save File and then OK
Step 3: Navigate to your Downloads folder and click on the SolidWorks 2023 zipped file and click extract all

Step 4: Select the path to save the extracted file

Step 5: Once the file is extracted, open the folder and click on setup.

Step 6: Ensure the selected installation type is Install on this computer, and Electrical is unchecked, then press Next
Step 7: Find the serial number in Stevens-Readme.txt located in the same sharepoint folder.

Step 8: Enter the serial number from Stevens-Readme.txt then press Next

Step 9: Select No, and then press Next

Step 10: In the Product section click on Change and deselect the electrical option and click go back, Accept the terms and click Download and Install

Step 11: When prompted for the license server information, use the following address: 25734@lm3server.campus.stevens-tech.edu

Step 12: Allow time for the installation to complete. Once it is finished, select No, thank you and Finish

Step 13: Restart your computer to finish the installation. SolidWorks should now be installed.
MacOS using Boot Camp
Note: This is the recommended method as your entire computer's resources will be dedicated to running one operating system.If you do not wish to install a Windows environment on your Mac, you can run SolidWorks with optimal performance by logging into https://stevens.apporto.com/.
Step 1: Visit https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools, click Sign In and enter your Stevens email and password

Step 2: Click Software on the left hand side

Step 3: Choose Windows 10 Education, Version 21H2-DVD. When clicked, on the right hand side a you will see an option to View Key. Choose View Key and copy the Key provided

Step 4: Copy and Paste the Key in a new tab in your browser. Click Enter, and .iso file and click on Download
Step 5: Now you will begin using the Boot Camp Assistant on your MacOS. After the process is finished, you will have the option of loading Windows 10 or MacOS on startup
Solidworks License Server
Step 1: From the Windows Start Menu, search All Programs for your version of SolidWorks. Open the Solidworks Tools sub-folder, and click on SolidNetWorks License Administrator
Step 2: Click on the Server List tab at the top of the window. Click the Add button to add a server to that list

Step 3: In the new window that appears, enter 25734@lm3server.campus.stevens-tech.edu into the text box and click OK

Step 4: Remove any previous servers from the server list. On the Server List menu in the SolidNetWorks License Administrator, highlight any servers which you are not using and click Remove

Step 5: Click on the License Usage tab at the top of the SolidNetWorks License Administrator window and ensure that the server is set to the server corresponding to your version of Solidworks. Click OK to save these changes
